Micro Zonk

£199.00

The Micro Zonk is the smallest, most pedalboard friendly version of this iconic fuzz possible. To accommodate the size, it uses purely silicon transistors, but unlike the silicon Zonk II (which is more like a Fuzz Face) it uses the MkI Zonk circuit design. This version is powered by A/C adapter only as it is too small for a battery to fit. This version of the Zonk can be tuned more or less gated, just let me know how you’d like it when placing your order.

This is a pre-order item, build time is 1-2 weeks.

The original Zonk was a germanium fuzz with 3 transistors. Designed after the Tonebender MkI, it was made for a short time in the sixties. My version has a 3 way tone switch, and two trims inside for gain. They are important when using the pedal in hot situations as the gain goes up. I pick the transistors for gain and leakage, not for their brand. They may not look the same as the ones pictured.

The Zonk has a unique voice. From a soft buzz, like reeds, to full gain. Almost an overdrive, but always a gate at the end of the notes. Not like a Fuzz Face - it will not clean with the guitar volume. But it sustains. Holds the note when it should die.
